Merry Christmas everyone, and happy holidays!! I'm currently visiting my in-laws up in Middletown, New Jersey. Its nice to have a white Christmas instead of the usual South Florida winter holiday. I'm busy editing a wedding I shot on the 19th in the nice cold air :)

I have had the privilege lately to be able to shoot some family portraits. It is really quite interesting to try to capture a family and have each of their personalities come out in the photo. Here are a few from this past week.

I had an assignment today to go and photograph a Christmas parade that would most likely be rained out. I just want to say that I am very impressed with Nikon gear. I got pretty wet with my Nikons and nikon lenses but everything still worked like a charm! Nice weather sealing Nikon. Bravo. Anyways, here are my favorite two from the day.

XMAS TREES

I had an assignment to go and photograph a privately owned Christmas Tree lot and see how sales were doing this year. These are my favorite two.

Thanksgiving

I had an assignment to photograph the Mustard Seed Ministries feeding the needy. It made me very thankful for what God has provided for my family. Happy Thanksgiving!

1st post...

I have been working as a freelance photojournalist for about 4 years now and figured I would finally start a blog. There have been a few things on my mind that have been going on in the photojournalism community that I would love to discuss, and will, but just at a later time. For now, for my first post, I just wanted to thank my wife and family for supporting me and encouraging me to stick through the tough times of the newspaper and magazine industry and to trust God. I am now making a living taking photos and doing what I love...capturing the world with my camera, and documenting history.

On another note, I have just completely redone my website and my portfolio. Check it out when you get a chance. http://www.GKjournalist.com

Talk to everyone soon...
